Two months ago, we told your about the proposed replica German medieval village. The village is planned to host the annual Rosenvolk German Medieval Festival in Dubois County each year. It would include a castle, a banquet hall and other festival buildings. It’d be a step up in celebrating the area’s historic German roots.

Yet, according to a news report, not everyone is happy about the plan to build a $5 million village in the small community. Around 20 people who live nearby signed a letter opposing the plans. They say that having 200,000 tourists heading to the area for the upgraded festival every year would change the area too much. The Dubois County Tourism Board supports adding the permanent German medieval village in the county as the location of the annual Rosenvolk German Medieval Festival.
