The U.S. Small Business Administration announced this month that some Private -organizations (PNP) in Indiana can apply for very low-interest rate disaster loans. In certain counties, including nearby Warrick, Spencer and Perry Counties, PNPs (that don’t offer services of a governmental nature) can apply for these loans.
This offer follows a Presidential disaster declaration following severe storms and flooding in certain Indiana counties. Certain PNPs in the following counties may apply for the disaster loans:
- La Porte
- St. Joseph
Qualifying PNPs might include homeless shelters, museums, food kitchens, libraries, schools, community centers, and colleges. In total, a qualifying PNP can borrow up to $2 million! The interest rate for these disaster loans is just 2.5 percent. Plus, they can use the money to build storm shelters or safe rooms for future protection in addition to any repairs from the storms. PNPs can even get Economic Injury Disaster Loan assistance even if the organization didn’t suffer any actual physical property damage.
