Did you know that recent Indiana Agricultural Statistics indicated Dubois County one of of the top in the state for woodland acres. Nearly 30,000 Dubois County acres are woodlands! Many woodlands can be found within major wetlands and IDEM-managed land. Plus, you’ll find woodlands right along the Patoka River. These provide important shelter for wildlife and remarkable scenic beauty.

Anyway, each Indiana county a Soil and Water Conservation District with the mission of providing residents with information about soil, water and related natural resource conservation. Dubois County’s SWCD supported the Woodland Steward Newsletter. If you haven’t checked out the newsletter and intend to own property in Dubois County, check it out.

Also, feel free to stop into the local SWCD. You’ll get outstanding information about conservation programs, invasive species, water, soil and woodlands conservation. This week, they have tips on removing Garlic Mustard.
