6 Tips for Hosting a Holiday Party
Spending time with your family and friends by hosting a holiday party is fun and festive. Hosting a holiday party can also be stressful so we’ve put together four tips for making holiday parties easier on you plus a few fun party ideas that are sure to peg you as Hostess or Host of the year! Follow these tips so you can enjoy your own party.
Have Everyone Bring a Dish or Cater Your Party
Whether you’re having a formal dinner party or just appetizers and drinks have everyone bring a dish. It will take much of the pressure off of you to feed everyone. Suggest that everyone share their recipes with each other to make it more fun. If it’s in your party budget consider having the food catered. The food will be deliciously prepared and be nicely presented.
Hire a Babysitter to Watch the Children
Many people don’t want to spend the money on a babysitter while they go to a holiday party. Or your holiday party might include the children. It’s important for adults to get some uninterrupted time together so consider hiring one or two babysitters to come to your home to watch the children in a separate room. Everyone can share the cost. The babysitters can play with the children, read to them and even get them in their pajamas for you.
Splurge on a Cleaning Company
Take some stress away from planning your holiday party by hiring a cleaning company to clean your house for you. It will save you a lot of time and energy. This will allow you to focus on the fun part of planning your holiday party.
Plan a Theme
Everyone loves a themed party! Ugly Christmas Sweaters, Formal Dress Up, Reindeer Head Gear, Best Candy Cane Concoction, Holiday Martini’s? Think up a good theme and send out invitations or make a FacebooK Event and let everyone know well in advance so they can plan ahead!
Set up a Photo Booth / Station
People love to take pictures with their phones today – Selfies abound! Set up a fun photo booth or put up a festive background on one wall and set out some fun props that people can use to take pics! Fujifilm has an inexpensive Instax camera that is like a Polaroid and prints the photo instantly for a fun party souvenir! Encourage guests to take two photos and leave one for you so you can make a photo memory book.
Hire a Professional Home Decorator
Nothing completes a holiday party more than having your home decorated and looking festive. You can hire a company to put your exterior lights up. This will save you time and also save you from being outside in the cold. You can even hire a company to come decorate your tree and the inside of your home for the party. You can give the decorator a theme or ask them to suggest one. They will even come back after the holidays to take everything down for you. If your budget is tight from all of the holiday shopping then ask a friend to come help!
