If you just moved to the area, you should know that each year, the post office in Santa Claus, Indiana has a new postmark. Sure, it’s Christmas in town all year long, but they still do special things around the holiday season. Among those special things is releasing an annual holiday postmark.

The postmark is chosen from designs by local high school art students. Every ear, they do a contest to see which design will become that year’s postmark. This year, Savannah McCutchan (graduated from Heritage Hills School in the spring) won the contest. So, as of December 1st, the post office in Santa Claus will offer the following picture postmark to cancel the stamps on holiday mail.

 

If you want the special cancellation all you have to is either bring your stamped holiday mail in or mail your stamped holiday mail in a box or sturdy envelope to the post office with a note requesting the postmark before sending. Make sure that there is a 2×4 inch space in the stamp area, because that’s how big the postmark is.

There is no charge for the service of this special postmark, but you are limited to 50 postmarks per person per day.
