Earlier this year, the City of Jasper approved changes to its domestic animals ordinance. Property owners in the City of Jasper are allowed a maximum of four animals. This includes duplexes. So, if a landlord allows pets at a duplex, the ordinance would allow for two per unit. It should be noted though that the limit doesn’t include pets under the age of four months. So, if your dog has puppies, you aren’t in violation automatically.

Jasper residents should know that if the city picks up an animal, they hold the animal up to three days before adopting the animal out. They do reserve the right to euthanize pets that can’t be adopted because of safety or health reasons, but the city actually works closely with the Dubois County Humane Society, so euthanasia is actually extremely rare.
