Dubois County Tied For Lowest Unemployment In Indiana
Dubois County, Bartholomew County and LaGrange County all tied for the lowest unemployment rate in Indiana last month, according to a new report issued by the state. Each county had just a 2.8 percent unemployment rate the Indiana Department of Workforce Development reported. Meanwhile, Vermillion County had the highest rate in Indiana up to 5.9 percent. Overall, the entire state of Indiana had an unemployment rate of 3.5 percent. This is below the national average which remained unchanged at 3.9 percent. The U.S. Labor Department said that another 201,000 jobs were added in August.
More than that, Indiana’s labor force participation rate is at 65 percent which is also above the national rate. The national labor participation rate is 62.7 percent.
In Dubois County, there are 23,755 people in the labor force and 23,078 of t hem are employed. That leaves 677 people classified as unemployed in Dubois County. The state itself has a lower unemployment rate than all neighboring states and most states in the Midwest. This is good news for Indiana and Dubois County’s economy!
