Evansville’s heavy trash pick-up starts on Monday! So, head out to the garages and down to the basements. You can start getting rid of your big garbage from Monday until June 1, 2018. Twice a year, the City of Evansville lets residents unload their big trash items. Did you move an old box spring down to the basement this winter? You won’t have to hang onto it much longer! If you pay for trash service with your water bill, you get to take advantage of this awesome service. If you live in an apartment or a mobile home community though, this service doesn’t extend to you. Also, remember, this isn’t available for commercial customers.

Check the collection schedule and maps on the City of Evansville’s GIS website. Make sure you keep your piles of heavy trash manageable and safe. Put it out where your garbage is normally collected. Plus, be sure to have it out there by 6:00 am on the first day that collection is scheduled in your area.

Remember, you are limited o two of each tuple of appliance per household. This means only two stoves, refrigerators, washing machines, or water heaters. We’re sure few residents attempt to throw out three stoves at a time, but you never know! Also keep in mind, you can’t throw out televisions on big garbage days! You also can’t throw out concrete blocks, bricks or steel poles. Unfortunately, you also aren’t allowed to throw away automobile parts, batteries, tires or anything hazardous with this service. Programs offered by the Solid Waste District can take care of your computer parts, tires, and hazardous waste. So, don’t worry just because these can’t be included in the heavy trash pick-up service.
