What to Do With Yard Waste in Evansville, IN

If you are planning to buy a home in Evansville, Indiana, you will find the city a beautiful place to live. Residents can keep the area beautiful by taking care of their yard waste like sticks, tree limbs and leaves.

Evansville residents are provided with trash and yard waste services by Republic Services of Evansville. They issue residents a standard 96-gallon cart. This cart is supposed to be used for both trash and yard waste for most of the year. A weekly pickup is provided.

The spring yard waste service is provided the first four weeks in April and a special unlimited leaf collection service is provided for eight weeks beginning in mid-October. Unless residents are disposing of their yard waste during the designated times, all yard waste is supposed to be put into the cart provided by the trash service. Yard waste should never be put into the recycling containers.

During the first four scheduled trash collection days of April, residents are allowed to throw out as much yard waste as they need to. Residents must put the yard waste in plastic bags, tie sticks into bundles, or throw the waste into the trash containers provided. Residents don’t need to pick up any special bags. The leaves, grass clippings, limbs and sticks will all be going to the landfill along side normal trash, according to the city.

Fall Leaf Collection Service

In the fall, leaves must be put in biodegradable plastic bags, into paper leaf bags or in containers. Residents need to put these bags in manageable, organizes piled. The leaves get picked up on the same day as trash is scheduled to be picked up, but at a different time. Leaves should be kept separate from regular trash. If a non-biodegradable bag is used, leaves will not be picked up that week, according to the city.
