A Disadvantage Business Enterprise is a business that is at least 51 percent-owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals who:
- Are US citizens or are permanent residents of the US
- Have expertise in their field
- Control the daily business operations
- Have a personal net worth less than $1,320,000
The net worth factor actually is excluding the value of their home and excluding any assets of the business applying for DBE certification. The Economic Opportunity is responsible for certifying a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise. To learn more, click here.
