In a previous blog post, we just talked about Vectren’s transition plan, which is a huge leap forward into the green energy sector. We didn’t explain just how many construction jobs the plans will create for the area.
Vectren’s plan, which includes one of the largest solar farms in the region, will sit on 300 acres and host 150,000 solar panels. It will also add a new $900 million natural gas plant. That will create 600 jobs during construction, plus 35 full-time jobs permanently.  The natural gas facility still has to gain approval from the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, but it could be producing energy within five years.
Vectren is also trying to close coal ash ponds due to EPA mandates. It hopes to recycle the waste materials. Currently, some of the waste material is actually being shipped to a cement manufacturing facility in MIssouri for reuse.
