Do you have old medicine laying around and not sure what to do with it? The safest way to dispose of unused medicine is to place it in a prescription medication disposal unit. Until recently, the Jasper Police Department didn’t have one. Now, thanks to the team effort of CVS Health and Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, the Jasper Police Department finally has a prescription medication disposal unit.

Jasper Police Chief Nathan Schmitt says that the drug collection unit gives the people of jasper a safe, easy way to dispose of unused prescription medicine. He also thinks it can help reduce drug abuse.

In all, the Medication Disposal for Safer Communities program collected over 100 metric tons of unused medicines. The program donated more than 800 units to local police departments around the country.

The unit at the Jasper Police Department is sitting in the lobby of the police department located at 309 East 6th Street. The lobby area is accessible around the clock. So, feel free to drop off unused medication anytime, 24 hours a day.
