Medical Complex Gets New Name: Evansville Center for Health Sciences

Medical Complex Gets New Name: Evansville Center for Health Sciences

Partners in the medical education complex in Downtown Evansville finally chose a name for what was previously known as the Multi-Institutional Academic Health Science & Research Center.  The previous name was just a working title and a final name was always in the plans. Actually, it was the center’s second working title. The new campus, which is almost complete, will utilize candidates from the Indiana University and the University of Southern Indiana and the University of Evansville.

Evansville Center for Health Sciences

It’s still scheduled for a ribbon-cutting ceremony August 9, 2018 and a fall semester of collaboration! In late June, the Indiana University School of Medicine-Evansville will move its offices from the University of Southern Indiana to the new Evansville Center for Health Sciences.

It’s modeled after facilities in other places. For example, Vanderbilt University and Michigan State University both built similar facilities. The Evansville Center for Health Sciences features a high-tech campus and a 150-seat auditorium. That auditorium shall serve all programs at the center, encouraging collaboration among the 500 total students from the three participating universities.
