The next mayor of Jasper has been chosen following Mayor Terry Seitz’s resignation. At a private caucus at Jasper City Hall today, the Dubois County Republican Precinct Committee considered applications from the following people: Dean Vonderheide, Nancy Eckerle, Levi Hulsman and Bernie Fallon. They selected Dean Vonderheide.

He’s been a member of the Common Council since 2016. He retired in 2015 in the chief human resources role at Kimball International. He’s served on the Jasper Public Library Board (where he’s currently president) and the Dubois County Contractual Library Board.

Vonderheide’s focus will be on long-term planning, infrastructure and economic development, according to Dubois County Herald.
