SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS DAY OF SERVICE
These kids cleaned cages at Dubois County Humane Society, helped with an upcoming Haiti fundraiser, made ornaments with the little tykes at Trinity Tree House, and celebrated with Jasper’s elderly citizens at local retirement homes. Plus, they donated their time elsewhere. So, those were just a few of the things the kids did for the community as part of this event!
According to The Herald, one of the residents at a local retirement home called it “the greatest thing in the world.”
CURRICULUM-BASED EVENT
Samantha Venderley, an English and language arts teacher at the school, organized the event. She said she hopes it becomes an annual event. In all, 225 students participated. She says the kids did a fantastic job. Plus, the teacher managed to tie the day of giving in with the language arts curriculum. See, the class lesson focused on influential people who were guided by a cause. Additionally, they learned about kids and teenagers who made a difference and secured their place in history.
Besides this wonderful day of service, the kids also brought in donations for the local food bank, the humane society, and Community CHEW. So, Welsh Realty Corp. thanks the seventh grade class at Jasper Middle School for setting a great example!
