The 2018 community Christmas tree on the courthouse lawn is the city’s official, main Christmas tree. It was donated by Betty and Sharon Seifert of Ireland. Patoka 2000 financed the lights and bows on the tree as well as the garland on the street poles. The Jasper Christmas decorations were also funded by contributions from area residents in honor of their loved ones or other special occasions. Jasper’s municipal electric department installed the Christmas tree as well as all the garland and decorations. They also decorated the tree and designed, created and placed the star on the Jasper community Christmas tree.
Incidentally, you may have noticed the new lights on the courthouse. The new lights were updated to LED lights. These lights are significantly less costly to run and have a longer life span. The city will use these same lights for various holidays and events during the year.
