Considering The Newer Bait System For Termite Control? Here’s A Little Bit About It
Because the stronger chemicals that used to be used to exterminate termites using the barrier system aren’t permitted anymore, exterminators have had to turn to less powerful chemicals. These less powerful chemicals don’t always work. There is a newer system though that costs less initially that is extremely successful for eradicating termites invaders. The new system is the termite bait system. Bait systems are made of plastic tubes that have perforations in them and a screw off cap. The tubes are only about two inches in diameter. They get placed about every eight to 12 feet around your home so that foraging termites can find them. This system requires no concrete drilling and everything happens outside your home.
Here’s How The Termite Bait System Works
First, the exterminator loads the bait tubes with wood – Just wood. Then, they leave. They come back in a few months to see if the termites have started to feed on the wood. Once they have fed on the wood, the exterminator adds a chemical to the tubes that interfered with the termite molting process. The termite brings this chemical right back to the nest and the nest dies off within months. This system used far less chemicals and the chemicals are targeted. The termites themselves carry the chemical right back to the nest.
Cost Of A Termite Bait System Compared To A Traditional System
Initially, this saves on upfront costs. For example, the bait system usually costs around three to four dollars per linear foot, whereas the liquid termiticide applications generally cost around five to seven dollars per linear feet. Still, these usually get monitored every few months for years, so there isn’t really any money saved in the long run.
