The City of Jasper welcomes the Rolling Hills neighborhood. At a Common Council special meeting the final approval for the annexation of the Rolling Hills area was approved. Rolling Hills is located just outside the city’s border near Highway 162. Rolling Hills property owners asked to be a part of the city’s wastewater service in 2016. The City of Jasper said that for the neighborhood to get wastewater service, they’d need annexation into the city.

Last year, most property owners agreed to the annexation, because their septic systems are failing. Thanks to the annexation, the wastewater installation for homes in the Rolling Hills neighborhood of Jasper should begin next month. When the annexation is complete, the Rolling Hills residents will also receive police and fire protection, recycling service, trash collection and street maintenance too. They’ll begin paying taxes to the City of Jasper. The annexation increases Jasper’s net assessed value by .28 percent. This will yield at least $21,000 in tax revenue in the first four years after Indiana’s circuit breakers take effect. The taxes for the annexation will begin in 2019 and will be due in 2020.
