An $11 million townhouse project has been proposed at the former site of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg, Indiana. There will be 56 units right by 20th Street and Leland Drive. Most of the site will be made up of three to four bedroom townhouses, though a separate apartment building is also in the vision. The apartment complex would be mostly two bedroom apartments and be three stories tall.

Plus, if the plan goes through, the residents of the townhouses will have a lease-to-buy option. At least that’s according to what Pete Schwiegeraht of Miller Valentine Group told the Huntingburg Common Council while pitching the plans. This same development company was the one that developed The Lofts, the senior housing community that opened nearly two years ago. That community is completely full now. The Miller Valentine Group says that more affordable housing is needed in Huntingburg. Just like with The Lofts, the Miller Valentine Group will partner with Tri-Cap and the project’s construction will be awarded to bids by local companies.

The developers will bring more plans before the common council at the meeting next month. If all goes according to plan, construction could start next summer and be finished by summer of 2020.
