Three Tips To Streamline Your Morning Routine
Mornings are incredibly hectic, no matter if you commute, are carpooling, taking kids to school, or even caring for animals or other needs. It seems like everything needs the same amount of care at once! This can leave one feeling rushed and hurried, and that’s a bad way to start the day (and studies show can actually take years off of your life!) Some days will always be more hectic than others, but there are specific things you can do to make sure that your morning routine is as smooth as possible.
Three Tips To Streamline Your Morning Routine
- Prepare as Much as possible the night before
- Get adequate sleep and get up in time
- Stick to a schedule
We’ve all heard it, but few of us put it into practice – it really does make life so much easier and sweeter to have outfits picked out (including shoes and jacket) for all members of the family, as well as lunches packed, bookbags gone through, briefcases checked, water bottled placed in freezer, whatever you can do to make your job easier in the morning. Some people go as far as picking out breakfast and programming the coffee maker. Some people shower the night before, but others find that doesn’t work well for them. Make sure you know where your keys are located. Little things save a lot of time.
Getting adequate sleep actually saves you time during the day because it helps your brain work more efficiently when you’re awake. You’re less likely to forget things, and you actually physically walk faster. Getting up early enough to begin your day is perhaps the single most important thing you can do to streamline your morning routine. This doesn’t mean bare-bones minimum time, either. Give yourself enough time to wake up, get a cup of coffee if that’s something you do, read the morning’s headlines, chat with a family member, eat breakfast, walk the dog, etc. This is vital to taking the stress out of the start of your day.
Always stick to a schedule. If you notice that a chore needs done, unless it’s imperative that it be done right then, let it wait until later. Stopping to do fifteen minutes of laundry or washing dishes can really add up. If those things are important to you to do in the morning, add them in to your time allotted to prepare for your day. Otherwise, don’t try to sneak in extras – it will set you back and get your day off to a bumpy start.
