We’ve all heard the spring is a good time to sell homes, and while that is true, there is actually a demand for homes all the time…and there is a special group of buyers that are looking for a home around the holidays! There may be several reasons for this, but it’s important to remember that not everyone has the same tastes or lifestyle, and some cultures may not celebrate holidays in typical ways – either not celebrating them at all, or celebrating them in grand style, which may culminate with the purchase of a home! Keep in mind that the ambiance of Christmas lights and Christmas decorations can add a lot of style and warmth to your home, which may be very enticing to sellers. If you have a snowy landscape, play it up with dazzling pictures for the real estate section!
Three Reasons The Holiday Season Is A Good Time To Sell Your House
- All is merry and bright
- People are getting engaged
- Christmas Bonuses
Christmas is a time of year that generally brings about feelings of friendship, hope, love, family and togetherness…and people long to have their own home to share and celebrate in, perhaps to host their first Christmas meal! The idea of setting up a family tradition of decorations, a meal, a tree, gift-giving, Christmas morning is very enticing to individuals who are already thinking of becoming home owners! And a home with a large pine wreath and red bow on it – what could be more inviting? Add some candles in the window, and it’s a bit of heaven on earth!
People are also getting engaged at this time of year more than any other, and newly engaged people are thinking about home ownership. What is more romantic or fun that an in-love couple house-shopping together at the holidays? Many people consider the end of the year a time to plan for the new year and make changes, and some of those may include home ownership, or moving to a new area – close or far away! Remember to advertise your house as being good for all kinds of situations, including single people, as “perfect for families” can seem exclusive. The right person will love the house and put it to use with their own creativity!
Last but not least is purely financial – Christmas is a time of bonuses! Many sectors of society hand out sizeable bonuses at this time of the year, and many people are looking to put them to good use, as sometimes it’s a tax issue to leave them sitting in a bank account. Why not use them for a down payment on a home? Particularly lower priced starter homes can be financed in this way – people may be able to put down twenty percent as a down payment from a holiday bonus! If that’s not merry, we don’t know what is!
