Simple, Cost Effective Ways To Appeal To Millennials
Millennials are the largest generation in history. It’s time to take them seriously. They are about 90 million members strong. Though they are coined “entitled” on a daily basis, their homebuying trends say something much different about this self-confident, educated, social and technological generation. They are actually quite frugal as homebuyers. They are far more willing than their parents and grandparents to skip vacationing and dining out to get into a home faster. They are also perfectly content to buy an older, smaller home. They seek out affordability and convenience. Buying a home has nothing to do with status as it was in previous generations. Millennials view home ownership as a means of independence and security.
If you have a smaller home, you can accent it with minimal investment to appeal to millennials. Think along the lines of USB ports in the outlets. This is a real thing, and millennials appreciate this. It’s incredibly affordable to swap out standard outlets for outlets with a USB included. Consider adding a couple of solar panels to the home. Solar panels don’t have to be capable of powering the whole home at the moment. They can just offset some of the electrical use. A home with even one solar panel is better than a comparable home with none. Want to really open up possibilities? For around a grand, you could have an electric vehicle charging station installed. Energy efficient hot water heaters and appliances is another important selling point. If you just had new insulation added, that will actually be appreciated by this smart generation of consumers.
This might not make a lot of sense, but these things are appealing to the new generation – the largest generation. Keep in mind that in the next decade, we expect to see the number of millennial households increase by 2.7 million. It’s worth knowing how to make your home better appeal to this generation.
