Post House in Downtown Evansville: $40 Million ‘Green’ Development Will Offer 144 Living Units


The Post House in Downtown Evansville should make for a very unique addition. This will feature 144 living units, but it will also feature restaurant and office spaces at the ground level. It’s an incredibly innovative design that will be surrounded by the Old Post Office, the Fifth Third Center and BRU Burger Bar. It’s a $40 million development and will offer underground parking!
Also, it will feature cutting edge energy efficient technologies and Vectren will even have a research center right in the complex. There will be solar panels on the roof to power one-third of the Post House’s 144 apartments. Sharing the roof space will be an outdoor rooftop pool for residents! Also, there will be battery storage for excess energy right on site! Plus, get this: that underground parking garage will have electric car chargers available for use. Don’t expect the apartments to be exceptionally costly either. The plan is to rent them at market price.
The complex is expected to be ready in 2020, so this is not some far-off development. It’s coming soon. They already had the groundbreaking. The Post House development received partial funding from Indiana’s Regional Cities program.
City officials say this development will be so innovative that it’s sure to draw national attention.
