Indiana Incentive For Solar Power Systems

How do I deduct solar panels in Indiana?

Earlier this week, we told you about the federal tax credit available for a little while longer for homeowners who purchase solar power systems. Did you know that Indiana offers incentives too? The State of Indiana actually has a Renewable Energy Property Tax Exemption. It applies to any solar thermal, photovoltaic, and other solar energy systems that were installed after December 31, 2011.

Here’s how the deduction works: The assessed value of the solar power system is actually completely exempt from property taxes! Of course, you will need to fill out Form 18865 and file it with your local county auditor.

Here’s the link to the Dubois County Auditor’s website. Meanwhile, Dubois County Auditor’s phone number is (812) 481-7000 and the email address is: auditor@duboiscountyin.org.
