Historic Calumet In Jasper To Reopen Today! (Check This Out, Future Brides)
The historic Calumet in Jasper will reopen today with an open house starting at 6 pm. Everyone is invited! The open house at the Calumet will feature live music and offer food from local venues and soft drinks. The historic Calumet in Jasper was built in 1941. Since then, it’s been a skating rink, a dance hall, a bar and a restaurant. This time around, the Calumet is a venue for weddings and other events!
The owners, Larry and Jamie Lillpop of Newburgh purchases the 14,000 square-foot building in December a year and a half ago. Larry, as a contractor, saw that there was still life in the structure and decided to buy it and put in some TLC. He restored the front of the building and the 80-year-old oak floors. The old oak beams are now exposed. The old original state still remains! He put in a new deck bathrooms, and heating, cooling and electric systems. Inside, you’ll find a brand new oak bar and stone fireplace.
The venue should be able to accommodate around 700 guests. Don’t miss its grand re-opening tonight.
