Dubois County’s full-time health department was established in 1965. A seven-member Board of Health, appointed by the Dubois County Commissioners serves an advisory roll, develops ordinance, and sets administrative policies for the county. Additionally, this board appoints one Health Officer who serves as the executive officer and the Secretary of the Board of Health. The Dubois County Health Department focuses on health education, environmental health, disease prevention, control and screenings. Specifically, they monitor tattoo shops, swimming pools, septic tanks, dentists, restaurants and much more.
