Today kicked off Volksfest, a celebration of German food, music, beer and culture! The festivities began this morning at 11 am. Today, Volksfest will go on until Midnight. Then, it resumes again tomorrow at the same schedule and again on Saturday! Join in as Germania Maennerchor, Evansville’s oldest surviving German singing group, celebrates its Deutsch heritage at this annual event.

Food at Volksfest includes bratwurst, German potato salad, white beans, ham hocks, and kraut balls. Music will be provided by the following groups:

• Rhine Valley Brass
• Ratskeller Band
• The Schnapps Band

The kids can come for lunch, but after 2:30, anyone celebrating Volksfest must be 21 years old or older. Also, just to be safe, you’ll need to bring two valid forms of ID showing that you really are over 21. If you haven’t been to Volksfest before, it takes place at 916 Fulton Ave. in Evansville.
