Central Lofts To Move Into Shopbell YMCA building On Fifth Street
A City-County Site Review Committee plans for a new housing development in Evansville that will be at the Shopbell YMCA building on Fifth Street. This is a $23 million project that will actually include 62 income-based units. The entire project will be partially funded by Low Income Housing Tax Credits. It will be called Central Lofts.

Future Central Lofts residents should be able to move in sometime in early 2020.
The Shopbell YMCA building on Fifth Street in Evansville dates back to 1913. In a fun twist honoring the building’s history, the original fireplaces and state will be incorporated into the new design. The designers have called the renovation of the YMCA building a fantastic challenge. The exterior of the building will also be getting a face lift.
