5 Ways To Make Your Indoors Festive For The Holidays

5 Ways To Make Your Indoors Festive For The Holidays

If your home is on the market, your will definitely want to take advantage of the brilliant ambiance the holidays can offer not just the outside, but the inside of your home. It’s important to keep these festive touches tasteful and not gaudy – if in doubt, think of something that would be appropriate to display all winter, not simply at Christmastime. This also gets you more bang for your buck – your home will have a delightful warm from November through late February, not just during the holiday season. The truth is, we spend far more time on the inside of our home than the outside, so shouldn’t a significant portion of our time and effort follow suit? Obviously, a Christmas tree is a beautiful touch, but even before the tree goes up, and long after it comes down, there are many things you can do to make the most of the decorative advantages of the winter season.

5 Ways To Make Your Indoors Festive For The Holidays

  •  String Small Twinkle lights in Strategic Places
  •  Make your Linens Wintery
  •  Winter Themed Candles Throughout The Home
  •  Wintery Wreath on All Windows
  •  Battery Powered Candles in Windows

You don’t want to go overboard, but small strands of twinkly white lights can be beautiful around a bannister, across a hearth, or tucked into a centerpiece. A key element here is safety – you don’t want the lights to get to hot or cords to trip people, so place them in low-traffic areas where they can be easily disguised and don’t leave them on unattended or when you sleep. Better safe than sorry.

Wintery linens are always a hit – flannel sheets, a buffalo plaid throw, and towels that feature cardinals or snowflakes. Some snowmen even have a way or looking classy – just don’t go overboard with the snowman theme, as it may be a turn off to people who are decidedly into country decorations. If you’re into antiques, lanterns and ice-skates can look lovely hung by the door.

Fortunately, the scents of Christmas are fairly universal for all of winter – so the pine candles, :winter snowfall” scents, cinnamon scents and more will be perfectly appropriate this time of year. The goal is not an overwhelming scent, rather a pleasant mild scent from room to room that is reminiscent of winter.

You don’t have to keep wreathes just on the front door – you can place them on all your windows, which you will be able to enjoy from the inside, too! Grapevine and pine boughs should last all winter, and tied with a cranberry or hunter green bow will look beautiful long into the long winter days.

Another festive idea that blesses both the indoors and the outdoors are battery-powered candles in the windows. There are many to choose from, and some are electric, some fully battery powered, some LED. The goal is to see a bright warmth and hominess from both inside and outside the home on frosty winter days and nights. Your home will be winter-welcome in no time!
