3 Ways To Double A Guest Bedroom As An Office
Many people work from home now, and those numbers are only expected to increase in the coming years. Most of them need a dedicated office space away from the hustle and bustle of the house in order to get their work done, but not everyone has a large enough home to completely dedicate a bedroom to an office. Many people use their spare bedroom for guests who occasionally stay in town and don’t want to sacrifice being able to be hospitable. With a little planning, you don’t have to sacrifice anything and can still have both! Your spare bedroom will still be comfortable for guests and will look polished and attractive as in in home office.
3 Ways To Double A Guest Bedroom As An Office
- Choose a décor theme that works well for a bedroom and an office
- Use a Daybed in the bedroom
- Have a Chest of Drawers Double As a Standing Desk
Choosing décor doesn’t have to be tricky. However, most people want their offices to be attractive since they spend so much time in there. Love the woods? Maybe a green and brown décor, with a painting of mountains, is right for you. Carry the theme over to the daybed by selecting appropriate bedding and big throw pillows so that it looks very “couchy” during office hours. Same routine if it’s the ocean you crave – or a particular color.
Always use a daybed instead of a regular bed in an office, because it can double as a couch when it’s not being slept in, and can look very professional. This also saves space. Make sure you have matching throws that gives it even more of a “couch” look during daylight hours. This is helpful for when you want a break from your office chair, to have a space to stretch out for a bit and brainstorm as well.
A chest of drawers for your guests is a must-have, but it’s even more clever if you get an antique or utilitarian one, so that it can perform two duties – A standing desk for you and a place for their clothing when they stay. Anyone who works long hours at a desk can tell you that sitting all the time is not the most comfortable thing in the world – but you still need to be able to foist you papers or your laptop somewhere, so an appropriate height chest of drawers will fit the bill for a standing desk.
