Last-Minute Ideas To Decorate For Halloween
We all know the feeling – you’ve been pressed for time, and now you want to have a festive porch for little trick-or-treaters, but you have no time to spend hours upon hours decorating for Halloween! Fortunately, there are some very easy ways to make your porch festive and inviting. You could always thrown on some spooky music and light a few candles for added holiday touches! (Tip: Never skimp on lighting for your walkway and driveway – safety is a priority!) All you need from the store is a few large pumpkins, some black construction paper, several rolls of plain white paper towels, different sized gourds, white spray paint, tacky glue, and scissors. You’re ready to decorate!
Last-Minute Ideas To Decorate For Halloween
- A mummy front door
- glue faces on pumpkins instead of carving
- Turn gourds into ghosts
Wrap your front door entirely in white paper towels and tape securely (If you are worried about waste, you can remove and fold them back up to use later!) and then draw large round circles for eyes on black construction paper and a slit mouth on construction paper and cut them out. Glue them securely to your door. Be advised your door won’t be able to be shut during this time, so make sure you or someone else is at the door at all times to monitor your home while giving out candy. You have a mummified front door for just a few dollars and very little time!
Everyone knows that unfortunately, while lots of fun, pumpkin carving is time consuming and also messy. Don’t let that get you down – you can draw faces on construction paper, cut them out, and glue to your pumpkins! You can also use black construction paper to make witches hats to sit on your pumpkins heads. If you are feeling adventuresome, you can buy some glow-in-the-dark paint to paint over top your construction paper pieces to make your faces glow! You can make these as simple or dramatic as you want, because there’s no carving involved!
What could be cuter that lots of little ghosts lined up beside your walkway to welcome your guests in? Long ones, short ones, wide ones, oddly shaped – Gourds come in various colors, but all can easily and quickly be spray-painted white. Allow to dry for an hour or so and then cut on black circles from construction paper for eyes and mouths and glue them on the gourds to have an entire ghost army, for mere dollars! Inexpensive, original and fast – a great craft for young children.
