Dubois REC’s Energy Management Program is a way to save on electric costs while helping the energy company keep the residential energy load within limits. Here’s how it works: During periods of peak demand, Dubois REC can automatically signal your central air conditioning/heat pump cooling unit and water heater to reduce energy consumption. A signal is sent out to power down these units for short periods of time. It’s barely noticeable for the consumer, but it really helps meet the demand of the power company during peak times.

The more people who participate in the Dubois REC’s Energy Management Program the easier it is for the energy company to keep costs low and reduce greenhouse emissions.

If you choose to participate, you can also choose which appliances it functions with. You can choose your air conditioner/heat pump or you can choose your hot water heater. Alternately, you could choose both and maximize the credits to your bill.

There is absolutely no cost to the consumer for the installation of the switch. In order to qualify for the program, you simply must use at least 750 kWh each month.
