3 Tips for Staging Your Outdoor Living Space
As a real estate agent, one of my main focuses when showing a home to potential clients is discussing the outdoor living spaces. More of my clients want to enjoy an outdoor space where they can relax, entertain or have a garden. When property owners are trying to sell a home faster, I recommend staging the outdoor space to make the property more desirable. Here are three tips for staging the outdoor space at your home when it is listed on the real estate market.
Get Rid of the Clutter Outside a Home
Make sure that the outdoor kitchen or meditation garden is free of clutter. This will make the space look larger, and it also makes it easier for potential buyers to see the benefits of the space. This can mean that a homeowner must find other places to store children’s toys, piles of cookware or garden tools. My clients will want to look inside the storage sheds that are near a garage or a garden, so make sure to store lawn care equipment and gardening supplies neatly to give the space the best appearance.
Clean the Outdoor Spaces Thoroughly
While rain may clean some of the debris from an outdoor living space, it won’t eliminate all of the dirt. Use a garden hose along with a bucket of warm soapy water and a scrub brush to wash the algae and insects from outdoor features such as a gazebo, stone bench or water fountain. This will make the outdoor space more visually appealing along with eliminating the foul odors from debris such as bird droppings.
Increase the Safety Features Outside a Home
My real estate clients are looking for homes with safety features, including on the outside of a home. There are several types of safety devices for outdoor living spaces, including:
• Tall fences around the home
• Sturdy gates on the fences
• Strong locks on the outbuildings
• Security alarms on the outbuildings and fences
• Exterior lights on the side of a home and outbuildings
• Security cameras located in strategic locations
• Motion sensor detectors that alert property owners about intruders
